New “Mr Kindness” Illusion

Story Driven Magic Brings Meaning to Stage Illusions
Kindness. Compassion. Brotherly & Sisterly Love. Sharing our resources with those who temporarily are without. It seems to me, that there are many examples of such humanity in the world today, and there are many examples when the world could use more.
When creating the concept for my new story driven illusion, Mr Kindness, it struck me that the world can seem a lonely, scary, loveless place to so many. What if we could use every opportunity, every dark moment, every tragedy, every hand reached out, to love more. More kindness. More love. More Compassion. To rise above and shine light into the darkness with brilliant generosity. To give of ourselves in such a way that the world is no longer one of fear, of lack, of hunger, but one of Hope and Peace and Unity.
When I was 15 years old, working at my local Lake Havasu, Arizona KMART, I often dreamed of one day having my own shows, and performing magic professionally, to break the monotony of stocking Ken’s Salad Dressing on the shelves or returning shopping carts to the store. It was then that the concept for “Mr. Kindness” first came to me. I scribbled the idea down on loose notebook paper which I kept in the front pocket of my KMART vest. I still have that loose piece of scrap paper with my notes. I tip my hat to my 15 year old self who conceived of an idea that is as relevant today as it was then; perhaps, even more so.
On November 9th, 2015 at the Gaslamp Melodrama Theater in Bakersfield, California, I had the immense honor to perform in Ron Saylor’s Celebrities of Magic, and debuted this beautiful new illusion with assistant, the immensely talented, Melanie Kramer. In front of a sold out theater, we performed a very special story in which kindness is given to one in need.
