(The Unstuffy Bio)

Hey there. My name is Jason Bird. I am an award-winning magician, serial creator and founder of projects and ideas, and a fierce lover of humanity.

If you’re curious about my background –  I was born in Wisconsin (Go Pack!) to Polish-American parents. We lived in Pardeeville, Wisconsin until we moved to Lake Havasu, Arizona when I was 11. My dad delivered milk and my mom raised my brothers and I while volunteering at the library. We didn’t have much growing up, but we had a lot of love.

I first discovered magic when I was 8 after checking out a book from my mom’s library, but magic was overshadowed and overrun by school, sports, and playing the trumpet. It wasn’t until I was 15, in fact, that I rediscovered magic through a young magician’s club at my high school.  The mentor of this club invited me to join a group of local magicians who gathered once a week.  Decades older, this fantastic group of fellows treated me like an equal and inspired me to continue honing my craft.  I was bit. It was all I could think about. Trumpet and sports fell away. My passion was magic, as it would continue to be for the next 22 years.

Fun fact #1:
I won the annual Lake Havasu talent competition 3 years in row.
(Don’t get too excited. It was a pretty small town back then.)

Armed with nothing more than skill, dedication, and ambition, I headed to Las Vegas when I was 18 under the auspices of going to college. Enrolled in Las Vegas’ UNLV, I left halfway into my Sophomore year at 19 when I was invited to perform  at “Caesar’s Magical Empire,” a $68-million magic-themed dinner show at Las Vegas’ Caesar’s Palace. When I was 24, I was offered an extended contract to perform at the Aladdin Resort in Las Vegas. I performed well over 3,000 shows during that time.

Since those early beginnings, I have had the good fortune over the years to perform on television, on dream stages, for VIP clients and celebrities, and travel the world doing what I love for a living.

There is a saying that it only takes 20 years to become an overnight success, and I can definitely attest to that. I have had my share of training dogs to keep a roof over my head in my early years.  Rejection, disappointment, life’s curveballs – check, check, and check!

Fun fact #2:
In 2012, the Society of American Magician’s selected my “Deja Vu” illusion- a “backwards” act in which the magic occurs in reverse- as a finalist in their annual SAM stage competition.

I won’t inundate you with a roster of clients I’ve worked with or a list of greatest hits and accomplishments. It might be fairly interesting or cause for bragging rights- but, that’s not really what it’s about for me.

In the end, all you really need to know is that I care about connections and using magic as a means to elevate the human spirit. I’m on a mission to create experiences for you that push the boundaries of Magic (and what’s possible!) to remind people of how cool it is to be alive on this crazy blue planet.

And – I’m grateful for the opportunity to create these experiences with you, to connect you to one another, and to give you a renewed sense of excitement and wonder. If you’ve read this far- I thank you. I’d like to think this is just the beginning of our journey together.

When I’m not designing new magic, performing, or producing, I can probably be found in the redwoods (my church!) or jumping into the ocean (my therapy!) or taking my family on road trips, preferably getting lost along the way.

As they say in the circus (which I had the great adventure of working in as Ringmaster long, long ago)….

See you further down the road,

“Write like you’re clinging to the edge of a cliff, white knuckles, on your last breath, and you’ve got just one last thing to say, like you’re a bird flying over us and you can see everything, and please, for God’s sake, tell us something that will save us from ourselves. Take a deep breath and tell us your deepest, darkest secret, so we can wipe our brow and know that we’re not alone. Write like you have a message from the king. Or don’t. Who knows, maybe you’re one of the lucky ones who doesn’t have to.”

Official Bio

Jason Bird is a magician widely considered one of the best of his generation. He is best known for his interweaving of story and magic, unique one of a kind illusions, and pushing the boundaries of magic into new frontiers.

His best known illusion debuted on national television in 2016 – in which he performed  “Mr. Kindness” on the CW’s Masters of Illusion. In this touching illusion, he encounters an elderly woman seated on a park bench.  Jason magically produces several pigeons for her to feed. At her request, Jason lifts her blanket before lowering it again a few seconds later to reveal that the space where the beggar woman once sat was now empty leaving only her hat, which Jason lifts to reveal that she has transformed into a dove.

In 2012, the Society of American Magician’s selected Jason’s “Deja Vu” illusion as a finalist in the annual SAM stage competition.  A “backwards” act in which the magic occurs in reverse earned him a reputation as one of the most skilled and original magicians in the world.

He is the co-founder of Alchemy Insiders – designing magic and consulting for film, television and theater.  Alchemy Insiders is also a community builder providing a first-of-its-kind community subscription to empower magic makers to elevate their creativity, skills, and stories to share their magic in a world in need of magic.

Named a thought leader in magic, transformation, and visionary leadership,  thousands of visitors subscribe every month to Jason’s weekly newsletter for inspiration, exciting magic, and video updates.  Featured in MAGIC magazine’s 25th Anniversary issue, Jason shared his personal story of perseverance in times of adversity.  The interview sparked conversations across the globe about the need for courage when one’s vision and ideas are ahead of their time.

A speaker, a writer, a husband, a father, a dreamer, a doer, and an avid outdoorsman, he lives in Las Vegas, Nevada with his wife and children.

You can find him at @jasonbirdmagic on Twitter and Instagram and MagicofJasonBird nearly everywhere else online. He prefers conversations in real time, so if you want to stay connected, make sure you sign up for his weekly updates.

  • Kind Words

    - THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE -
  • Jason is inherently charismatic and likable. The shows that I’ve seen really connect with me emotionally and I have high standards of what I consider theater growing up with Broadway in NYC.

    - Robb -
  • I just saw the Master’s of Illusion “Kindness” episode. You have created something unique, more moving than magic alone. I’ve worked with the homeless and I loved this illusion. I think you’ve tapped into the stronger universal awareness of human suffering.

    - Lori -
  • I attended one of your shows expecting to be entertained. I left not only entertained but transformed.

    - Marc -
  • Jason is an inspiration to the masses. He is original, thought provoking, and I predict he will impact millions with his brand of magic.
